Soap Mastery:
Cold Process Bar
Soap Making

Deepen your knowledge on cold process soap making and learn how to craft your own formulations.

2 hours | $220

Dive deeper into the world of cold process soap making in our 2-hour advanced workshop. Here, you'll learn how to formulate your very own soap recipe and master the art of blending various base oils, essential oils, and soap additives that cater to your needs.

This workshop combines creativity with technical know-how. Depending on the type of soap you wish to create, you'll gain insights about selecting the right base oils and determining the appropriate amount of lye. We'll also explore the use of different liquids, essential oils, and additives in soap and how they impact the final product.

Additionally, you'll learn technical calculations for different soap ingredients, equipping you with skills that extend well beyond our studio. With this knowledge, you'll have the ability to craft and customise existing recipes to suit your specific preferences.

All necessary ingredients and soap making equipment will be provided. We’ll also review safety precautions for handling lye (sodium hydroxide) during the workshop.

Please ensure that you have basic knowledge of cold process soap making. If you are new to cold process soap making, we highly recommend signing up for our Soap Basics: Cold Process Soap Making before joining this workshop.

What you will learn

  • Technical knowledge on how factors like water-to-lye ratio and temperature influence soap properties, such as hardness, lather, and cleansing power

  • How to formulate soap recipes for your own needs (e.g. sensitive skin, exfoliation, laundry)

  • How to adjust existing recipes to create balanced and longer lasting soaps

  • How to work with soap additives and uncommon soap making ingredients

What you will get

  • 1 kg of your handmade soap loaf that can be cut down to 10-12 bars

  • Class slides covering base oil types, soap recipe formulations and calculations, a step-by-step soap making guide, and additional resources

  • An e-certificate of participation (sent only upon request after workshop is completed)

Please note:

Cold process soaps require a minimum 4-week curing period before they are ready for use.

Whether you prefer a hands-on approach or would like our assistance, please keep in mind that soap cutting and stamping can only be done between 2-7 days after they're made. You're welcome to cure your soaps at home or in the studio following the cutting process. Soaps can then be picked up via self-collection or delivery, which we offer to local addresses at a nominal $5 fee. Kindly be aware that any uncollected soaps will be donated after 3 months.
