Established in 2016 Sugar & Spice began as one of the first soap making studio in Singapore. Back then crafting was often regarded as an occasional activity. Since then, we’ve witnessed the transformation of crafting as an outlet for mindfulness, connection, wellness, and creativity. Starting out your soap making journey? We offer three basic workshops to choose from: Soap Basics: Cold Process Soap Making Soap Basics: Cold Process Liquid Soap Making Soap Basics: Melt & Pour Soap Making You may also consider the Starter Pack , a beginner-friendly package plan meant to help you establish a strong foundation in soap making. Our workshops are kept intimate and small, typically limited to no more than 4 participants, to ensure personalised attention and a higher-quality learning experience for everyone. Are your workshops suitable for children? Our Soap Basics: Melt & Pour Soap Making Workshop is suitable for kids aged 3 and above, while our cold process soap making workshops are suitable for kids aged 12 and above. What workshops do you offer other than soap making? We also offer natural skincare workshops where participants can craft lotions, balms, and moisturisers suitable for sensitive skin. These workshops are led by our instructor, Dr. Kenneth, who is an experienced research biochemist with a Ph.D in biochemistry. Will a certificate be awarded upon completing a workshop? Yes, we can host corporate, private, and fringe soap making and crafting events , tailored to your specific requirements. These events can be held either within our Maker Space (up to 20 pax) or at an off-site location. All workshop bookings can be made online via our Workshops page . For corporate workshop bookings, kindly contact us at info@sugarandspice.com.sg . I'm interested in your package plans. Is it possible to mix and match different workshops within the package? Our packages are designed to offer structured learning paths that align with your soap making experience. As such, we do not provide the flexibility to mix and match different workshops within the same package. If I purchase a package plan, how much time do I have to decide if I want to use the add-on promotion? When you purchase a package, you will receive a discount code for add-on promotions. This code can be used during the validity period of your package. For instance, with the Starter Pack, any additional add-ons must be redeemed within 3 months of purchase. If you are unable to make it for your workshop and would like to book in for a later date, kindly inform us at least 48 hours in advance . Last minute cancellations for workshops will incur a $30 administrative fee for rebooking . General Maker Space and All Access Pass Can I rent your studio space for soap making? Certainly! Our Maker Space is open for bookings through DIY workshop sessions , and can accommodate up to 4 pax. To enjoy unlimited bookings* to our Maker Space, you may consider purchasing an All Access Pass . *Subject to operating hours and availability of slots. Are soap making materials and equipment provided in the All Access Pass? Yes, our Maker Space is equipped with a wide range of soap making equipment, including: Stainless steel bowls (ranging from 1kg to 10kg) Blender Weighing scales Measuring spoons Whisks Silicone spatulas Loaf molds Please note that in an effort to minimise single-use waste, we do not offer complimentary use of disposable gloves. We kindly request that you bring your own gloves. Disposable gloves can be purchased at $0.50 per pair. Additionally, we do not offer complimentary use of soap making ingredients. You may bring your own ingredients or purchase them within our Maker Space. For safety reasons in compliance with lye regulations in Singapore, please be aware that all lye used within our Maker Space must be purchased from Sugar & Spice. Personal lye is not allowed to enter our premises. Similarly, lye purchased from our studio cannot be brought outside of our premises either. We reserve the rights to decline entry for any inappropriate use of lye within our studio. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. What are the benefits of being an All Access Pass holder? Repeated late cancellations or no-shows (2 times or more) will lead to a 1-month booking freeze . During this period, bookings can only be made via email at info@sugarandspice.com.sg and you will be placed on a waitlist. Can I bring a guest to DIY workshop sessions? Guests are permitted under special circumstances, provided that an email request for approval is submitted to info@sugarandspice.com.sg at least 48 hours in advance . This applies to the following situations: Children under the age of 13 Individuals who require assistance with soap making What does “unlimited studio access” under the All Access Pass mean? This means that you have the flexibility to book as many individual and consecutive DIY workshop sessions as needed. Kindly note that slots are subjected to operating hours and availability, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Our slots open 4-6 weeks in advance. To secure your preferred time slots, we recommend booking early! Can I transfer or share my All Access Pass with someone else? The All Access Pass is non-transferable and exclusive to individual use. If you'd like to bring a friend along, you can refer them for their own All Access Pass, and both of you can enjoy the referral perk of $10 discount on in-studio lye purchase. How do I renew my All Access Pass? Renew your All Access Plan and receive 15% of your pass value as bonus studio credit. This credit will be added directly to your membership account and can be used toward ingredient payments in the studio. It’s our way of thanking you for continuing your creative journey with us. In situations where plan extensions are necessary due to medical reasons, we consider each case individually. Here, you'll learn how to formulate your very own liquid soap recipe and master the art of blending various base oils, essential oils, and soap additives that cater to your needs. This workshop combines creativity with technical know-how. Depending on the type of soap you wish to create, you'll gain insights into selecting the right base oils and determining the appropriate amount of lye. We'll also explore the use of different liquids, essential oils, and additives in soap and how they impact the final product. Additionally, you'll learn technical calculations for different soap ingredients, equipping you with skills that extend well beyond our studio. With this knowledge, you'll have the ability to craft and customise existing recipes to suit your specific preferences. All necessary ingredients and soap making equipment will be provided. We’ll also review safety precautions for handling lye (potassium hydroxide) during the workshop. Please ensure that you have basic knowledge of cold process soap making. If you are new to cold process soap making, we highly recommend signing up for our Soap Basics: Cold Process Liquid Soap Making before joining this workshop.
